Where Currents Meet
Glasscapes Series | 24" × 6" × 2"
A long, narrow landscape built around movement, texture, and unexpected details. The soft turquoise and warm ochre background creates a sense of open space, while layers of textured fused glass form two areas of visual activity along the surface. One of the most distinctive elements is the dark turquoise transparent glass that extends above the surface. I intentionally made these pieces slightly taller before firing, allowing them to slump into their own irregular, wave-like shapes in the kiln. I painted their top edges with gold, which adds a subtle flash of warmth and really emphasizes their dimensional quality.
A smaller version of the layered glass design appears toward the top of the piece, creating a visual echo and giving the eye another place to pause. On the side is a small coordinating "glass tattoo"—a little detail that carries the design around the edge and makes the piece interesting from more than one angle.
Where Currents Meet is part of my Glasscapes series, where I combine painted surfaces, hand-drawn lines, and dimensional fused glass to create abstract landscapes that invite you to discover something new each time you look.
