Mapping the Unknown

Mapping the Unknown explores the relationship between flowing lines, color, and dimensional form. The background features an abstract pattern of black markings that follow the different areas of color, creating a map-like design across the textured fused glass surface.
 
Raised pieces of fused glass in red, orange, yellow, gray, and other contrasting tones form a layered composition that stands out from the background. A clear glass element with white swirls and a gold-painted top runs along the surface, adding height, light, and another point of visual interest.
The piece is mounted on a white wood panel, with a small fused glass tattoo on the side that echoes the design on the front. This additional detail gives the work a finished look from more than one viewing angle.
